This card adds 3 FireWire ports to super charge your transfer speeds to your multimedia devices such as external hard drives, and video cameras.

The newest IEEE 1394b specification, FireWire 800 provides real-time data-critical for streaming video or audio applications. The MRI-FW03/2/R 3-Port PCI Card provides excellent results for bandwidth-intensive transfers with high-speed external disk drives, portable storage devices, digital audio and video, and home entertainment components.

Firewire (a) and (b) have a massive speed advantage over the USB (1 & 2) counterparts (400 vs 12 and 800 vs 480). Now with Firewire 800 hard drives appearing you can enjoy increased speed to your existing PC by just adding this PCI card from MRi. This variant PCI host provides 1 external 6 Pin Firewire 400 (IEEE1394a) and 2 external Firewire 800 (IEEE 1394b), which is backwards compatible effectively doubling this card as a 3 Port Firewire (a) host.
