Here are just some of the ways that MRi's Serial Servers can be used in real life situaltions
Most businesses these days use Rack Mount servers, manageable switches, and other management console devices to run their infrastructure requirements all from one (or more) central locations.
These console devices need administration by a person who knows intricately the role of each device and what its purpose is in the whole scheme of the infrastructure. This can lead to a single person being tied to the hot, noisy server room or different rooms in an extended infrastructure, not having the time or capacity to monitor the data transactions flowing through the infrastructure to make a key analysis of how it can be improved.
This administration can be improved using MRi's Ethernet Serial Servers. By using multiport serial gateways attached to the network at each central node, administrators can remotely log in and configure or monitor the devices from anywhere they have access to the network.
This can result in a much faster response time by the administrator as well as reducing the overheads of having a person permanently on site. It can also reduce costs as it replaces the need for a dedicated serial enabled pc to provide this task.
Today's hospitals, medical screening clinics, and pharmaceutical labs use different types of medical computerised equipment, most of which can be connected to and then monitored via the COM ports of a PC. A prime example is the modern medical screening facility that uses limited staff, but offers personalized examinations to large numbers of people.
In this case, each staff member, such as a physician, nurse, or medical technician, operates one station, and each station contains either a PC or some type of testing equipment to record data. Testing equipment, such as the self-contained blood analysis machines shown in the above figure, is connected to a serial device server, which is then plugged into the facility's network. MRi's Ethernet Serial Servers provide an efficient use of resources and a cost effective solution to send the recorded result data of a patient's blood analysis to a central computer for expert diagnosis by a qualified physician.
Our 4 Port RS232 Ethernet Serial server can expand your serial device availability throughout your organisation with endless posibilities.
